Website for a Hair Salon: 5 Must-Have Elements
Most hair salon websites don't fail because of bad design — they fail because they're missing one crucial thing: an easy path to booking. Here are the five elements that actually make a difference.
1. A visible price list
Clients want to know what to expect before they call. A transparent price list — even if it's just "from" prices — drastically lowers the barrier to getting in touch. Salons that hide their prices tend to come across as intimidating rather than exclusive to a lot of potential clients.
2. Online booking, not just a phone number
A big chunk of booking inquiries happen outside business hours — evenings, weekends. If the only option is "call us," you lose those inquiries entirely. A simple booking form or embedded scheduling tool captures those requests while you're closed.
3. Real photos, not just stock images
Clients choose a salon partly based on style. Real photos of the salon, the team, and actual results (with client consent) build far more trust than any generic beauty stock photo. A small, curated gallery is often more effective than a huge portfolio.
4. A team intro with specialties
"Who's going to cut my hair?" is one of the first questions new clients ask themselves. A short intro for each team member with their specialty (colorist, balayage expert, keratin treatments) helps clients pick the right appointment with the right person — and increases satisfaction after the visit.
5. Reviews, right on the page
Google reviews are good, but they're one click away. Three to five hand-picked client quotes right on the homepage — with real names, not anonymous — build trust before anyone even has to look elsewhere.
What's often unnecessary
An elaborate blog about hair trends. A complex membership system. An online shop for products, when most clients buy them in person anyway. For most salons: simpler, faster, clearer beats more comprehensive.
